The UNSC Roman Blue was a Halcyon-class light cruiser in service with the UNSC Navy during the Human-Covenant War.
History
In November 2530, Captain James Cutter decided to give his executive officer, Terrence Hood, command of Roman Blue. Three months later, during the Battle of Arcadia, the ship was assigned to recover a log buoy dropped by the UNSC Spirit of Fire. The Roman Blue was not to get involved in the battle, because Arcadia was already deemed lost. However, Hood, in his pride and anger over the losses the Covenant were dealing humanity, ordered the crew to attack the Sinaris-pattern heavy destroyer Radiant Perception. The Roman Blue was ultimately outmatched and Hood ordered a retreat of the system, without recovering Spirit of Fire's log buoy. Consequently, Hood came to blame himself for the loss of the Spirit of Fire.[1] After the battle on Arcadia, Hood was reassigned to the frigate UNSC Burlington in a fleet-support role, and command of the ship passed to Captain William Webb. In March 2531, the Roman Blue was put under repairs for a month. At some point between 2536 and 2552, the Roman Blue fought against the Covenant in the Ectanus 45 system, but the cruiser was severely damaged by plasma weaponry and crashed onto the surface of the moon of a planet in the system, Eiro, approximately fifty-six kilometers away from the lone settlement on the dark side of the moon.[2]
In January 2557, Rion Forge and the crew of Ace of Spades traveled to Eiro to salvage the remains of Roman Blue, though they were forced to retreat when they were attacked by an unknown opponent while searching the decrepit warship.[3][3] Inside the ship, Rion found a lead to the Spirit of Fire and her father, John Forge. What little remained of the ship was glassed by the assailants, who the crew of the Ace of Spades guessed may have been affiliated with the UNSC, possibly ONI trying to keep the heavy munitions onboard out of the wrong hands as crew member Kip Silas was an ONI agent who had alerted them to the discovery.
