The M149 Recoilless Rifle, also known as the Magellan, is a United Nations Space Command weapon used during the Human-Covenant War.[1]

Overview

Design details

The M149 Magellan is a recoilless rifle, mounted on the left shoulder of the HRUNTING/YGGDRASIL Mark I ADS. The weapon is capable of firing 105mm high-explosive rounds, and can hold up to 50 rounds in its magazine.[2]

Operational history

The Magellan was employed during the Algolis Invasion. During the battle, a Marine with the call sign "Ghost" took the research facility's Mark I ADS prototype, and used it in defense of the civilians and fellow Marines still on the planet. Ghost used the suit's mounted M149 to take kill a large number of Covenant infantry, shoot down several Type-26C Banshees and destroy a Type-52 Phantom before he was overwhelmed by the invaders.
