- — Auntie Dot
Auntie Dot (AI Serial Number: ADT 6849-9) also known simply as Dot, was a UNSC "dumb" AI active in 2552.[1][2] Specializing in operative military intelligence, she served as intelligent support and liaison between Colonel Urban Holland and Noble Team.[1]
Rather than personifying herself in the form of a humanoid avatar like the majority of AIs, Dot's personal representation is a grid of glowing, constantly changing blue lights. Characteristic of "dumb" military intelligence support AIs, Dot typically speaks in a calm, dry, articulate voice, displaying little emotion compared to AIs like Cortana.[1]
Operational history
Fall of Reach
During the Fall of Reach, she monitored and assisted Noble Team and kept the team's members connected while they were embarking on separate missions. She observed the team and provided intel where possible through security cameras and satellites orbiting Reach, but her actual physical location during the battle is unknown. Similarly, it is not known if Dot survived the Fall of Reach, nor what her activities afterwards were if she did.[1]

- She was voiced by Carole Ruggier.[3]
- Auntie Dot's voice is usable in Halo: Reach's Firefight mode.[4]
- Auntie Dot's grid is displayed as Halo: Reach's loading screen.
- One of Auntie Dot's loading screen images could be a reference to the Superintendent AI, as it appears to be a circle-like shape with two eyes in the center.
- Dot's grid accompanies the credits sequence to Reach, and at the very end, just before it fades completely into darkness, it displays a seven.
- In the first week of Bungie's "All-Star" contest in January 2011, the task was to produce an image of what a humanoid representation of Auntie Dot might look like. The winner depicted Dot as an elderly woman knitting a blanket with her characteristic grid pattern sewn into it.[5] Some of the results were listed in the 01/14/2011 Bungie Weekly Update.[6]
- Auntie Dot's grid bears some similarity to the Project GUNGNIR logo.
