In the Xbox version of Halo: Combat Evolved, if you create a new profile (or edit an existing one) and call it ".fortune" (dot located with shift on), a random saying will appear on the screen. It is also a cheat that allows the player carry 3 weapons at once.

Also in Marathon's internet game lobby if .fortune is typed in sayings like the ones on Halo will be shown.
