Strongholds is a multiplayer gametype for Halo 5: Guardians that focuses on capturing three static territories. Strongholds was featured in week 3 of the multiplayer beta and playable on Eden, Empire, and Regret.[1]
Gameplay
Strongholds plays almost exactly like 3 Plots in previous Halo titles, where you capture three different territories to earn points. Territories was replaced with Dominion in Halo 4 eventually leading to Strongholds in Halo 5: Guardians. In Strongholds, the first team to score 100 points wins the game. Scoring points requires teams to capture at least two out of three non-moving bases and defend it from the enemy team. The mode was designed so that it would be difficult to control all three points at the same time without stretching one's team too thin.[2]
