The Storm harness is a variant of the Sangheili harness utilized by Sangheili Storm.
Description
The harness is simple, sleek, and efficient.[1] The helmet covers the full span of the face offering some protection to it. The harness also has form fitting greaves so they fit comfortably for the user.
The Storm harness is most often issued in blue, though green, red, white, and gold harnesses are sometimes used instead.[2]
Variants
Swords of Sanghelios variant
The Swords of Sanghelios variant is identical to the base variant with differing colors. The Sangheili Storm affiliated with the Swords of Sanghelios are colored crimson and ivory.[3]
Jul 'Mdama's Covenant variant
Jul 'Mdama's Covenant Storm troops were known to use less sophisticated armors than usual, for example without the arm guards.[3][4] Unlike the full armor-set worn by the Swords of Sanghelios where the armor covers the whole body, the Storm armor in Jul 'Mdama's Covenant often leaves its wearers arms exposed.[2] Significantly less affluent than the original Covenant Empire,[5][6] Jul 'Mdama's Covenant was not outfitted like standard military.[7]
Other economically challenged Covenant remnants that also utilized sleeveless Storm harnesses include: Merg Vol's Covenant, Sali 'Nyon's Covenant, and Vata 'Gajat's mercenary group.
Command-rank variant
The command-rank variant is identical to the base variant except it showcases the brilliant gold of the former Covenant empire.[8] It also has purple glyphs on it.
Development history
After spending several centuries creating parts for other Sangheili harnesses. Lodam Armory put together their efforts and made the Storm harness as its first fully in-house armor system alongside a Ranger derivative of the suit.[9]
The harness was used by the original Covenant during the Human-Covenant War, where it was used by Storm shock troopers keeping the peace on frontier worlds. It saw much more widespread adoption among both the resurgent Covenant and the Swords of Sanghelios after the war among less specialized forces.[10]
Lodam Armory also later created the Type-55 storm rifle, that carries the heritage of this suit with sharing its name.[9]
