Five Long Years is a DVD exclusive song for Halo Wars that is played in the very first cutscene in the campaign. It runs for 3:51.
Structure
It starts with a low pitched piano beat, brass, then a trio of percussion and strings come in. This is followed by a chorus starting with female then male. This is followed by a series of computer generated noises, piano, then strings with the piano. Eventually all of the instruments come in to make the body of the piece.
Trivia
The name of the track comes from Captain Cutter's quote, "Five years, five long years. That's how long it took us to get Harvest back".
