Name

In the "You know what" video it says the mission is called Fireteam Osiris. Or am I just being dumb and it is what the section of the mission is called. Alertfiend - Team Chief 04:04, 17 October 2015 (EDT)

The latter. The first part of the level is titled "Fireteam Osiris". Tuckerscreator(stalk) 04:17, 17 October 2015 (EDT)

Forerunner "Vessel"?

In reviewing the cutscene, what crashes from the mountainside still looks, to me, to be a building. It's fired upon by some of Jul's ships, resulting in an explosion and structure collapse. I don't see anything to suggest that it's a vessel.Ocean Soul (talk) 15:48, 18 October 2015 (EDT)

There is a delay between the explosion and the crashing, suggesting it was airborne. Alertfiend - Team Chief 19:08, 18 October 2015 (EDT)
Well, it does take some time for a structure to collapse. As it was possibly founded on the mountainside/top, there would be no place to go but down. I suppose my bigger question is, what suggests (as it's "crash/collapse" is debatable) that it is a Forerunner vessel?Ocean Soul (talk) 19:15, 18 October 2015 (EDT)
It's gray, it's got a rounded body and narrow prow resembling Phaetons, there's Sangheili ships visibly firing, and there's a Promethean-vs-Covenant conflict going on. Tuckerscreator(stalk) 19:17, 18 October 2015 (EDT)
I'm going to edit the transcript. The object in question is Forerunner, no doubt, but it does not behave like a vessel so far as we have seen. Reviewing the cutscene yet again (this time at half-speed), when struck there are explosions where the plasma rounds hit, and as Osiris descends past it, there are small explosions or fires on the inside, yet it crumbles like a building rather than a ship. The large [antennae] on top also seems quite out of place for a ship. This site has always been about accuracy and fact regarding the Halo Universe, and I don't think "it resembles a Phaeton" is enough to warrant it being listed as a vessel. I'm opting for "Forerunner object" until it is more clear what it is; be it that we see more Forerunner ships or buildings in the campaign.Ocean Soul (talk) 09:11, 19 October 2015 (EDT)
Any reason for just completely removing over half the transcript? I've reverted the edit for now, but I'd like a reason for that.--Spartacus TalkContribs 10:46, 19 October 2015 (EDT)
The only changes that I made were
1. Fixed Tanaka's line (she says "So..." rather than "Say...")
2. Revised the nature of the Forerunner object to reflect yet-to-be-confirmed ambiguity as to whether it was a ship or a structure
3. Cleaned up general grammar and word use regarding the Forerunner object and Fireteam Osiris' descent.
I did notice while in the edit screen that there was transcript info for gameplay after the cutscene, but I did not (knowingly) remove that. I assumed that it was hidden for spoilers.Ocean Soul (talk) 12:21, 19 October 2015 (EDT)
Buildings don't explode (Most of the time) when they land on something, they just crumble. This object is on fire and exploding. Alertfiend - Team Chief 19:47, 19 October 2015 (EDT)
Quite true, and this object is more crumbling than it is exploding. Yet the object is only strongly burning where it was hit by the Covenant plasma fire. Other fires spark here and there where the object falls apart, but it's nothing like a large explosion - as we've seen with every other ship being destroyed. I must also wonder at the large "antennae" sticking up - quite uncharacteristic of Forerunner ships that we've seen - as well as the fact that, if this is a Forerunner ship, why is it the only one? I don't rule out that it might be a ship, but the thing is we don't know for sure. As such I feel we should definitely revise it to say "Forerunner object," and then correct it as more information comes in. This site has never been one to jump the gun on facts regarding Halo, why start now?Ocean Soul (talk) 19:58, 19 October 2015 (EDT)
We've only seen three Forerunner ships to date depicted and they all look vastly different, therefore we shouldn't pick and choose which traits are "uncharacteristic". Tuckerscreator(stalk) 20:51, 19 October 2015 (EDT)
Still yet, the only thing currently characterizing this as a ship is that "it kind of looks like a Phaeton". In my opinion, that's not enough.Ocean Soul (talk) 21:15, 19 October 2015 (EDT)
That, and everything else you decided to reject. In everyone else's opinion it is most likely a ship/vehicle. Alertfiend - Team Chief 21:26, 19 October 2015 (EDT)
Uh, no Alertfiend, it is far from that arbitrary and I would apreciate this discussion not taking that tone. You'll notice, I'm sure, that in my reply to you above, I do recognize that it might be a ship. The only thing is we don't know. As such, I feel that the best word use for the time being is "object", until more information is made available.Ocean Soul (talk) 21:29, 19 October 2015 (EDT)
So far it fits characterizations for a ship/vehicle, I never made nor meant to "take that tone" but you changing the description of the "object" was based on personal whim, while we have already discussed this topic when the Opening cinematic first came out. As such, IMHO until we get more information it should stay as it is. Alertfiend - Team Chief 21:34, 19 October 2015 (EDT)
Typically a "whim" is not reviewing the footage over and over, taking note of damage locations, destruction pasterns, etc. Tell me, what is so bad about leaving it as "object" for the time being? That is identifying it as neither a vessel nor a building - either of which it could be.Ocean Soul (talk) 23:02, 19 October 2015 (EDT)

With the subtitles on, I concede to Tanaka saying "Say,..." However, with the level selection in the menu, as well as gameplay, I firmly believe the Forerunner object is a building or structure. It has supports seen in the level selection (it, or a building that looks very similar to it,) and there are no other Forerunner ships aside from Phaetons in the level; it is entirely a Forerunner structure complex.Ocean Soul (talk) 02:53, 27 October 2015 (EDT)

There's Forerunner ships mentioned in Glassed. When I get the game, I'll have to check to see if they match this one's profile. Tuckerscreator(stalk) 03:38, 27 October 2015 (EDT)
Please post a picture (even if it is a picture with your phone) so we can put the matter to rest. Alertfiend - Team Chief 05:58, 27 October 2015 (EDT)
Tucker, I believe they were referring to Phaetons. Alertfiend, here's a comparison picture: Comparison_zpsnmnjhfv2.jpgOcean Soul (talk) 20:44, 27 October 2015 (EDT)
