The Killtastrophe medal is awarded for killing eight opponents within four seconds of each other in standard multiplayer games (and Halo: Spartan Assault) and within less time in campaign and Firefight. In Halo 4 multiplayer and Spartan Ops the kills need only be within 4.5 seconds of each other.

Originally, the medal was represented by eight silver stars on a light blue circle. In Halo 4 it is represented by eight white stars on a brown circle rimmed with orange and brown. The medal is monochrome and imposed on a shield in Halo: Spartan Assault and Halo: Spartan Strike. It is also emblazoned with only seven stars, and differing only from the Killamanjaro medal by an unshaded section at the bottom of the shield.

Gameplay Tips

  • This medal is extremely hard to get because of the combined difficulty of killing eight players in a row without getting killed within a certain time limit. One method of earning the medal is to wait at a common place and ambush incoming players. This only works if there are a large number of players.
  • Another option in Halo 3 is throwing a Trip Mine into a group of enemies. To further this effect, throw a grenade with the Trip Mine. This will cause more damage and finish off people who have their shields down from the Trip Mine.
