To keep this short and to the point what is everyone's thoughts on making the galleries essentially match their list of appearances sections? Subtank told me a while back that the Anniversary images should go with their perspective game images. However this was before Halo 2 Anniversary came out, and the different engines between the campaign and multiplayer does affect the way weapons and vehicles look. Likewise I've looked through the Manual of Style and the help sections and couldn't find proper protocol for the galleries.
So my proposal: Have the images in the gallery go in real life-chronological order based on their perspective media's release date. This would move most of the images from CEA and 2A down further in various article galleries. Ultimately this doesn't really change much, but I just wanted it to be made the standard.Sith-venator Wavingstrider (Commlink) 13:48, 11 May 2015 (EDT)

I've been wanting a chronological order too, but I've just been assuming it. I actually would prefer the Gallery to go in order of chronological release date of the media, but with remakes placed right after the originals. It's graphically less smooth of a transition, but I think it's more logical. Of course, I think any functionally important images, such as comparisons and diagrams should go first in a gallery, then the chronological order takes place.--Ender the Xenocide 14:12, 11 May 2015 (EDT)
- Well as it stands right now this is what galleries are.
- This is what I'd like them to be.

It would be nice to have a proper standard for this. I'm alright if we incorporate this into the Layout Guide/Manual of Style.--Spartacus Talk • Contribs 14:19, 11 May 2015 (EDT)
- Exactly. This way it matches up with the same style we have for the list of appearances.Sith-venator Wavingstrider (Commlink) 14:23, 11 May 2015 (EDT)
- As I've just mentioned it, I would favour a real world chronological order (ie, from 2001 to 2015), according to release dates. I think it's really helpful to compare how an appearance has evolved through time. It's also more or less easier to find images from a particular game. I think the remakes should belong to 2011 and 2014. When I look for CEA or H2A images, it feels awkward that they're in the beginning rather near the end. In my head, CEA fits between Reach and Halo 4. Visually, it's more consistent. It's also 343-made. It would be really helpful if the evolution from old design/graphics to new design/graphics was respected. Imrane-117 (talk) 14:25, 11 May 2015 (EDT)
- So we got 3 votes for yes and 1 vote for no.Sith-venator Wavingstrider (Commlink) 14:29, 11 May 2015 (EDT)
- Either way, within each game the order should go "concept art" -> "renders/CGI traiers" -> "cinematics" -> "engine cinematics" -> "gameplay" -> "studies/diagrams" -> "promotional material" -> "miscellaneous"--Ender the Xenocide 14:43, 11 May 2015 (EDT)
- I feel like it should go concept art>renders/cgi>promotional material (Such as stuff on the covers, as things like Scanned are there own thing and would go even before the concept art)>cutscenes and gameplay (Going on the order itself of the game's campaign. Things in multiplayer can be arranged however.)>diagrams.Sith-venator Wavingstrider (Commlink) 14:50, 11 May 2015 (EDT)

- It sounds a bit weird to put Scanned before Halo 4's concept art. The latter should come first, while Scanned should be considered as promotional material. I've always been a bit skeptical about how we tend to consider some trailers as fully independent from the game for which they were made. Imrane-117 (talk) 15:50, 11 May 2015 (EDT)
- Often because these trailers don't always relate too much to the game itself. Starry Night, Halo: Landfall, The Life, Deliver Hope, The Commissioning, Scanned, All Hail, and The Cost are all good examples of this. Which is why they get spots on the list of appearances section.Sith-venator Wavingstrider (Commlink) 16:02, 11 May 2015 (EDT)

- I agree, though I think that all concept art should be in the front of the gallery. Just a personal preference, as I think it looks better that way for whatever reason. Ultimately, it doesn't make a big difference to me. - NightHammer (talk) 16:26, 11 May 2015 (EDT)
- Are you sure? Let's compare.

Concept art in order.
Concept art all first.

- I see your point. With the rest of the gallery organized, it does kind of look odd. - NightHammer (talk) 17:00, 11 May 2015 (EDT)
Support That looks much neater. Some bookish girl. Wikia stinks. 18:41, 11 May 2015 (EDT)
