:In a specific regard, the UNSC Air Force does not use the rank of "Sergeant" in the E-5 slot, rather using the typical E-6 rank in the Army and Marine Corps of "Staff Sergeant." While they could be shortening the title, it isn't common or respectful to refer to someone by the short hand term.
