We really shouldn't be jumping the gun and designating all these weapons as the same variant as Halo 4 when we don't know for sure. Well, for some weapons that look almost exactly the same aside from a palette swap, it would be safe to call it the same variant for now, but for the new Magnum and SMG we DEFINITELY shouldn't be considering them the same. The SMG had a complete functional overhaul turning it from firing caseless ammunition from a side-mounted magazine to a cased variant with a top-mounted magazine. In the real world, that's like comparing apples and oranges. These are changes to the fundamentals of the weapon. As for the new Magnum, we ''could'' chalk it up to just being the M6H when we look at the vast differences in aesthetics between the M6G in Halo 3 and Reach, but it is functionally different in that it has a larger magazine capacity, and a different finish usually implies a different M6 variant.--[[ | We really shouldn't be jumping the gun and designating all these weapons as the same variant as Halo 4 when we don't know for sure. :I agree; common sense says that they're not even M7 or M6 variants at all. The Magnum is a bit iffy when H2's M6C has a completely different design with the full slide and shouldn't be an M6 at all, so that one's questionable. ::Well, there's no doubt in my mind that the new magnum is an M6 variant considering how different they can be and the fact that it would be weird for the UNSC to switch out their mainline sidearm franchise of 150 years or so, and the new SMG does have an intentionally similar side profile to the classic M7.--[[ | ::Well, there's no doubt in my mind that the new magnum is an M6 variant considering how different they can be and the fact that it would be weird for the UNSC to switch out their mainline sidearm franchise of 150 years or so, and the new SMG does have an intentionally similar side profile to the classic M7.--[[''[[User:FluffyEmoPenguin|FluffyEmoPenguin]]([[User talk:FluffyEmoPenguin|ice quack!]])'' 15:50, 30 December 2014 (EST) | ||
:::Having a better look at them now, they are most likely still M6 and M7 variants; they look far more like those two in profile rather than in first person. I actually got a good look on a dropped Magnum just now. Pretty sure it says "M6H2 PDW".--[[ | I actually got a good look on a dropped Magnum just now.
