At 343 Industries, Schlerf became the Senior Writer and narrative director for Halo 4.[3] He created the original draft of the game's script and continued to write for the game throughout the development process, alongside the rest of the writing team.[4] He was also the writer of Halo: Escalation until the sixth issue, and the short story Petra included in the 2010 reissue of Halo: First Strike.
