Enduring Conviction was a CAS-class assault carrier in service of the Banished.[3]
History
During the Human-Covenant War, the Enduring Conviction served under Let 'Volir in the Covenant's fleet as her shipmaster. With the dawn of the Great Schism in 2552, the ship and her crew left the Covenant and abandoned its religion.[3]
A powerful carrier with crew of veteran warriors, the Enduring Conviction soon came to the attention of Atriox, chief of the Banished. Atriox offered to fuel the ship and supply the crew in exchange for the unquestioning loyalty of 'Volir and his crew. 'Volir reluctantly agreed, and joined forces with the Banished, becoming a mercenary. Although Atriox often teases 'Volir, he is aware that the shipmaster is a powerful tool for warfare with the fleets of Banshee fighters and platoons of veteran Sangheili warriors 'Volir commands.[3]
During the battle for the Ark between the Banished and the UNSC forces of the UNSC Spirit of Fire, the Enduring Conviction provided orbital fire support for the Banished's ground troops. During the battle, the assault carrier launched an attack on the Spirit of Fire itself, though the UNSC was able to use a particle cannon on the Ark to disable its shields, followed by an infiltration of the ship via its gravity lift by Jerome-092. Inside, the Spartan-II inserted the AI Isabel into the Enduring Conviction's systems. Interfacing with the ship's weapons controls, Isabel fired the carrier's ventral energy projector on the Ark, vaporizing Banished ground troops and penetrating a portion of the installation's crust, alerting the local Aggressor Sentinels. As Isabel had intended, vast swarms of the drones descended on the Enduring Conviction, suicidally launching themselves against the carrier's hull as an unending coordinated stream until the ship had been bisected at its bow. As the Enduring Conviction lost structural integrity, the Sentinels returned to the Ark while Jerome, despite meeting resistance from Jiralhanae troops on board, managed to remove Isabel from the system and jump off the ship before it crashed on the Ark. Shipmaster 'Volir and a number of his men survived the ship's destruction.[4]
