Halo Legendary Crate is a series of Halo-themed mystery boxes produced by Loot Crate.[1]
Features
The Halo Legendary Crate is a subscription-based service in which subscribers receive a crate of Halo-related items every two months. Each Halo Legendary Crate includes exclusive figures, apparel, collectibles, ancillary fiction,[2] in-game items, as well as other Halo merchandise.[1] In addition, each crate is based around a certain theme from the Halo universe, the first being "Spartan-IV Initiation".[2]
Linking a Microsoft Xbox LIVE account to the Loot Crate site grants subscribers an exclusive medal on the Halo Waypoint forums.[2] Those who opt for the 12-month plan subscription will receive an exclusive legendary pin in their first crate.[2]
Additionally, every month, one random subscriber will win the special Halo Mythic Crate, a Loot Crate "Mega Crate" packed with extra exclusive items and content. The winner of the first Mythic Crate would receive Jameson Locke's ONI helmet, the authentic prop helmet worn by actor Mike Colter in the 2014 live-action Xbox Originals webseries Halo: Nightfall.[3]
Background
On June 2nd 2016 it was announced that Loot Crate and 343 Industries were partnering up to sell loot crates based around the Halo universe.[1] It was later revealed that those who subscribed to the crate would become "members" of Fireteam Apollo, Spartan-IVs assigned to the UNSC Infinity, receiving exclusive in-game and Halo Waypoint content.[2]
The first Halo Legendary Crate was released in August 2016.[2]
