Doctor Ruth Charet, the current President of the Unified Earth Government

The President of the Unified Earth Government is the head of state and head of government of the Unified Earth Government. The president is a civilian elected position.[1] The president is responsible for selecting members of the cabinet.[2]

In the aftermath of the Human-Covenant War, Fleet Admiral Lord Terrence Hood assisted with the official transition of power back to the president and the UEG from the United Nations Space Command, which had acted as humanity's emergency government during the war. In 2553, numerous politicians and academics contended for the position of president.[3] Ultimately, Doctor Ruth Charet was elected to the post in January 2553 and remains in office by March of 2558.[4][5]
