It's main weaknesses are slow acceleration and speed, and that occupants are fairly exposed. The rear-mounted plasma cannon is very dangerous, and can easily deplete an opponants shield. The turret gives the advantage multiple firing positions. It is generally the Covenant version of the Warthog, but has an extra seat. Also there is only one type of gun variation. With the Warthog, there are three types.

Originally designed for Halo, and included in Halo 2, the Spectre is an agile ground attack vehicle used for patrols and engagements. The Spectre has a Plasma Turret mounted on the rear, and has room on the sides for two passengers to ride along for increased anti-infantry capacity. It maneuvers more slowly than it's lighter counterpart, the Ghost, but it still uses anti-gravity pods to hover and strafe, allowing for a smooth ride over all terrains. Unlike other vehicles, the Spectre can boost without losing weapons power.

It is generally disliked in Multiplayer due to it's weak gun, which isn't very effective against flesh, so once an opponants shield is down, you'll need another weapon. Its over all slow speed when compared to other vehicles like the Ghost and Warthog is also a disadvantage.

Also the fact that the passengers, Gunner and Driver are easy to snipe unlike the Warthog which for the Driver is the safest because the sniper can only snipe them from the sides.

Template:Ship The Spectre is a Covenant ground vehicle. On first impressions, one could compare the Spectre to the Warthog, only in Covenant design and style.

Description

The Spectre is a multi-troop armored transport is small and highly manueverable and while slow, can easily move while in confined spaces. It's main weaknesses are slow acceleration and speed, and that occupants are fairly exposed. The rear-mounted plasma cannon is very dangerous, and can easily deplete an opponents shield.

Its overall slow speed when compared to other vehicles like the Ghost and Warthog is also a disadvantage. Also the fact that the passengers, Gunner and Driver are easy to snipe unlike the Warthog which for the Driver is the safest because the sniper can only snipe them from the sides.

Conceptual Design

It seems that during the creation of Halo: Combat Evolved the Spectre was an idea that Bungie had in mind and ended up cutting. At the time it seems to have been called a Shadow, but it definitely resembles the Spectre a lot more. It can be seen in the Halo E3 2000 Trailer.

Trivia

 • Without modding or AR saves, you can only see marines get in your spectre on The Great Journey (Level). To see how to do this, check HighImpact Halo
 • If you press and hold A while driving, the air brake will engage. The front end will rise, enabling you to climb some walls.
