The Composer's Abyss is a tunnel on Halo Installation 03. It was were the Didact stored one of the Composers. The "essences" of the organisms captured by the Composer were located among the Composer's Abyss. The end of the abyss is the location of a slipspace portal, leading to a Forerunner city.[1]
History
In late 2554, the Composer was removed from Installation 03 and brought to the nearby Ivanoff Station for research purposes.[2] On July 25, 2557, Spartan Team Black was killed outside the tunnel by Promethean Knights and Crawlers. Spartan Blue Team arrived at the installation to discover their disappearance and soon came across the Composer's Abyss. They walked down the tunnel, shocked at the human essences found in the abyss, and eventually came across the slipspace portal. The Didact was soon notified by a monitor that the Spartans had found the portal.[1]
