"Halo Xbox One", announced simply with the title Halo, is the tentative title for the upcoming ninth installment in the Halo franchise. Announced on June 10th, 2013 with a teaser trailer shown at Microsoft's E3 Media Briefing, the game is in development and is set to be released in 2014. It will be exclusive to the Xbox One.[1][2]

E3 2013 announcement trailer

Main article: Halo Xbox One E3 announcement trailer

First shown at Microsoft's E3 2013 conference, the announcement trailer for Halo Xbox One opens with a hooded figure journeying through a desert on an alien world. The figure, revealed to be John-117 clad in battered MJOLNIR armor, clutches Cortana's empty data crystal chip as he encounters an enormous Forerunner machine rising from the sand.[2]

Rather than announcing a particular title in the manner of a conventional teaser, the trailer was intended to showcase the future direction of the Halo franchise in a broader sense, in particular the "journey" the Master Chief would undertake. Thus many of the elements in the trailer are most likely more symbolic or general as opposed to being directly representative of the actual game set for release in 2014.[3]
