Template:SeeWikipedia Korea, occasionally referred to by the former South Korean endonym Hanguk (한국),[1] is a country in Northeastern Asia situated on the Korean Peninsula on Earth.
History
Korea was divided into two countries, North Korea and South Korea, in 1945 and remained this way for many years. However, the two countries reunified several hundred years before the Human-Covenant War to form a united Korea.[2]
Korea's strong emphasis on education has made it a technological powerhouse. As a result, the country is the site of many significant UNSC facilities, particularly in areas of training and weapons testing.[2] The most notable of these is the Special Warfare Center in Seongnam, Kyonggi Province. This is where the MJOLNIR Mark VI was tested by Maria-062 before it was sent to Cairo Station for use by John-117.[3] The MJOLNIR "C" variant and a number of others were also tested in the SWC.[1]
