The UN Genetic Rights Act was an early piece of United Nations ethics legislation. The act was extended to the offworld colonies in 2165 to prevent abuses by gene tech corporations conducting research outside Earth's legal jurisdiction;[1] a growing concern as corporate entities moved further out into the Solar System to avoid regulation by Earth nations and international law.[2] The act would later serve as the basis for the Mortal Dictata Act.[1]
