Update
This is a proposal to implement some amendments that I think would improve the policy (click me). Some of the terms are intentionally left ambiguous, allowing some flexibility and promotes user discussion. Oh, ignore the big red button, the experimental Forerunner image and the hate-me guy. :P — subtank 07:15, 26 September 2013 (EDT)

Adding in a section on "Quotability"?
*poke*
Would anyone find it fitting to incorporate Wikiquotes's Quotability standard into this policy page? It is quite helpful in dealing with unnecessary quotes currently listed and also for future additions. Of course, some of them would not be relevant or necessary to the wiki's operation, such as "Recentism vs. the Test of Time" and "Verifiability". — subtank 11:24, 3 October 2013 (EDT)
- That seems like it could be useful. Go for it.--Spartacus Talk • Contribs 11:44, 3 October 2013 (EDT)
- Bumping so that there can be a proper consensus on this. — subtank 09:26, 11 January 2014 (EST)

- Support - Right now our quote pages get crowded with superfluous lines (often from gameplay) which don't really meet any sort of quotability standard. --Jugus (Talk | Contribs) 00:17, 13 January 2014 (EST)
- Righty. I'll seek further approval once I'm done with a draft. — subtank 11:16, 13 January 2014 (EST)
Comments
On a related note, since we're having our quote pages reworked anyway, there's something else we could borrow from Wikiquotes: separate "Quotes" and "Dialogue" sections. That is, instead of listing quotes exclusively by that given character we would have a separate section for notable quotes that are part of an exchange. This is because many quotable lines lose their impact when separated from their context, and thus require both sides of the conversation to work. For example:
- "...you... keep it. I do know how to pick 'em."
It's from an important character moment, but it doesn't really work all by itself. Instead, we'd have this in the Dialogue section:
- Cortana: "You found me."
- Cortana: "But so much of me is wrong... out of place. You might be too late..."
- John-117: "You know me. When I make a promise..."
- Cortana: "You... keep it. I do know how to pick 'em."
- John-117: "Lucky me. Do you still have it?"
- Cortana: "The Activation Index from the first Halo ring. A little souvenir I hung onto...just in case. Got an escape plan?"
- John-117: "Thought I'd try shooting my way out - mix things up a little."
- Cortana: "Just keep your head down... There's two of us in here now, remember."
Much better. --Jugus (Talk | Contribs) 09:31, 16 January 2014 (EST)
- Makes sense to me.--Spartacus Talk • Contribs 12:08, 16 January 2014 (EST)
- Should "Dialogue" also cover other media or limited to only gameplay cutscenes? — subtank 15:48, 17 January 2014 (EST)
I agree. And I also propose that Quote sections could have a "Quotes about the character" section, said by other people. Tuckerscreator(stalk) 20:08, 17 January 2014 (EST)
Another related point: while the majority of random combat dialogue won't meet the notability guidelines, should we retain the full lists of Firefight quotes, given the fact they're not recorded elsewhere (ie. transcripts)? No one knows when they might become handy to someone. --Jugus (Talk | Contribs) 13:22, 19 January 2014 (EST)
