Thomas was a sergeant before becoming a SPARTAN-IV. During a training exercise he and Spartan Yeong-hao Holst were disabled by stun rounds. He agreed with Spartan Vladimir Scruggs that they would be able to beat twice as many soldiers with their armor. Commander Musa-096 said they would get the armor when they deserved it.
