This Charon-class light frigate (hull classification symbol FFG-127) was a vessel in the United Nations Space Command Seventh Fleet.[note 1] It engaged the Fleet of Sacred Consecration above Earth during the opening stages of the Battle of Earth on October 20, 2552, but was destroyed during the battle when it was cut in half by Covenant weapons. Upon seeing the destroyed ship in Earth's low orbit during his drop into New Mombasa, Lance Corporal Kojo Agu "took back" a sarcastic remark his squad mate Private First Class Michael Crespo had previously made about the UNSC Navy's response to the Covenant threat.[1]

Production notes

  • The code "HU_MIL_SHIP" is painted on the ship's hull. This is not the vessel's actual name but a placeholder graphic indicating HUman MILitary SHIP. It is structured much like the directory system of the game's files (ex. human/military/).
  • The destroyed frigate in Halo 3: ODST, FFG-127, is a reuse of the destroyed Forward Unto Dawn model from the end of Halo 3 and in the same cutscene, the tiny UNSC In Amber Clad that follows Regret's carrier into Slipspace is a reuse of the intact Forward Unto Dawn model, but with In Amber Clad livery. It is far too small to discern, so In Amber Clad is still canonically a Stalwart-class frigate and not part of the Charon class.

Notes

  1. ^ a b FFG-127 is part of the Seventh Fleet due to the "7" star emblem adorning its ventral prow. This symbol was established as the emblem of the Seventh Fleet with the UNSC Forward Unto Dawn entry in the Halo: The Essential Visual Guide.
