The unidentified CAA Mining Ship CFM-88 was a former Colonial Administration Authority mining vessel.

Background

This CAA mining ship was damaged during the Battle of Kholo in 2539. At some point it entered a slowly degrading orbit around a nearby gas giant, which it maintained as late as 2557.[1][2][3] The vessel's automated systems continued to function despite the ship's impending destruction. The ship's interior was simulated aboard the Template:UNSCship's training deck as a practice environment for the latter vessel's SPARTAN-IV complement.[4]

Design

Within the ship are multiple smaller rooms and one large room filled with many levels and walkways. A stationary Cyclops Mark II Powered exoskeleton can be found under construction by robotic arms within the large room. The ship also has several man cannons on the outside.

Trivia

  • This mining vessel is the setting for the Halo 4 multiplayer map, Adrift.
  • In the E3 2012 build of Adrift, the mining vessel's hull classification symbol was FFG-88, designating it as a frigate.
  • Though the map description says it is CAA, the hull shows a UNSC symbol. This is likely an oversight by 343 Industries.
