The Type-44 Troop Carrier, commonly known as the Phantom, is a Covenant dropship manufactured by Achoem Weapons.[1]
Overview
The Type-44 Phantom's prominence was due to its speed, maneuverability, and firepower in atmospheric and exoatmospheric environments.[1] It was later supplanted by a newer model, the Type-52, which was ubiquitous later in the Human-Covenant War. The Covenant remnant use the Type-44 as their primary dropship, likely due to the scarcity of the newer model.
Trivia
- Despite being an older model, Type-44 is surprisingly more durable than Type-52, capable of withstanding up to five Scorpion shots before exploding, similar to Type-52 in Halo: Reach.
- During the level Composer, in the hangar, if the player activates the barrier while a Phantom is still inside the station, the vehicle will explode once it comes in contact with the barrier.
