Forerunner is the third campaign level of Halo 4.[1]
Beginning on the surface of the shield world Requiem and eventually moving to a satellite station inside the shell enveloping the shield world, both Storm and Promethean forces are encountered as enemies in the level. The prototype warship UNSC Infinity has arrived near Requiem to investigate Cortana's distress beacon, and the Master Chief must disable a beam array that is causing communications interference preventing Cortana from contacting the Infinity in order to warn the ship about Requiem's defenses. After reaching the controls of the beam tower, the Chief uses a series of teleporters to reach what Cortana assumes to be a relay satellite as Storm warships converge on the same location; instead of a communications relay, the satellite turns out to house the Didact's Cryptum.[2]
