In the Fall of Reach there are several references to the Pillar of Autumns MAC cannon. One of these is the statement that the POA's MAC collects and reuses the massive amounts of waste energy when it is fired. This gives the POA the ability to fire "three successive MAC rounds" instead of the usual 1. Contrary to the popular belief that the MAC fires from three different barrels near the three supposed "armor plates"(communications dishes people!)the MAC on the POA fires from a single barrel that runs almost the entire length of the ship. In the Fall of Reach it was unfortunate that the UNSC did not have the time to install the new MAC systems on all of their ships. It could have very well have given Reach a far better chance than it did. (To anyone who thnks this theory is wrong and wants to change it again, take an hour to think about the physics involved in a weapons system that can destroy an unshielded Covenant ship in one shot. Remember, Covenant cruisers are larger than their UNSC counerparts. Rounds fired from the very bottom of the POA would be far to small and slow to do any substantial damage to an enemy ship. Also the POA is an old ship, even smaller than a typical UNSC cruiser.)
