Halo: The Essential Visual Guide is a visual guidebook of the Halo universe, published by DK Publishing on July 4, 2011. The book contains images and additional information on the locations, characters, creatures, vehicles, and weapons from the Halo universe.[1] Each page in the guide is dedicated to one element, focusing on its role and significance in the Halo universe. The book also features over 600 pieces of screenshots, renders and several pieces of artwork specially commissioned by Microsoft artists.[2]
The book was written by 343 Industries Content Creator Jeremy Patenaude. In addition, 343 Industries consulted Stephen Loftus, a long-time Halo fan known for his technical analysis on various aspects of the Halo universe, as a technical advisor on some of the details.[3]
Mistakes
- On page 16, Halo 3: ODST was not listed in the games the assault rifle appeared in. However, the MA5C Assault rifle does appear in Halo 3: ODST gameplay.
- On page 27, Orbital Defense Station Array-142, or the Cairo Station, is named as "Orbital Weapon Platform Array-142".
- On page 33 where it shows Commando armor, the MA37 Individual Combat Weapon System is mistakenly mentioned as MA5C assault rifle.
- On page 35, it is said that the Control Room can be found in Halo Wars, but the Apex Site seems to have been mistaken as the Control Room.
- On page 74, UNSC Forward Unto Dawn is mentioned to be appeared also in Halo 3: ODST where it does not.
- On page 79, Type-32 Rapid Assault Vehicle, or a Ghost, is named as "Type-32 Rapid Attack Vehicle".
- On page 81, Gravemind is mentioned to be appeared in Halo Wars, but the Proto-Gravemind or the Flood root seems to have been mistaken as the Gravemind.
- On page 81, the abbreviation of Flood Super Cell, is misspelled as "FCS" instead of "FSC".
