The Outstanding Airman of the Year Ribbon is a decoration that can be awarded to United Nations Space Command personnel.
History
The Outstanding Airman of the Year Ribbon was originally used by the United States Air Force. This commendation was first created on February 21, 1968 by order of then-Secretary of the Air Force Harold Brown [1][2][3]. The first presentation of the award was in June of 1970. This was the highest personal ribbon decoration of the United States Air Force. The Ribbon was awarded to any member of the U.S Air Force who was nominated by their Major Command, Field Operating Agency, or Direct Reporting Unit for competition in the Outstanding Airmen of the Year Program.
Airmen selected as one of the numerous Outstanding Airmen of the Year were authorized to wear the bronze service star as well as the Outstanding Airman badge for one year. A bronze oak leaf cluster was worn on the Ribbon to denote each past or subsequent award.
After the formation of the United Nations Space Command, personnel could still be award this decoration, and it was still being awarded after 2495. However, the criteria for the award had changed somewhat, as UNSC Navy personnel could now wear the Ribbon.[note 1]

- ^ Jacob Keyes wears this decoration on his uniform in Halo: Combat Evolved. It can therefore be reasonably assumed that the criteria for earning the Ribbon was changed sometime between 2011 and 2552.
