Private Zanato's first engagement against the Covenant was the battle for New Mombasa.[1] An extremely capable soldier and recipient of the coveted Basic Training Honor Graduate Ribbon, Zanato was promoted to the rank of Sergeant within his first week of active duty. When asked about his hasty advancement, Zanato replied: "I got the job because I was the only one in my squad still alive."
Zanato is well known in the UNSC Marine Corps for his driving ability and was driving one of the Warthogs that survived the engagement on Earth.
