Uplift Nature Reserve is a large park and a zoo, located on an artificial island next to the city of New Mombasa, Kenya, Earth. It was apparently funded by New Mombasa Uplift, the company responsible for managing the New Mombasa Orbital Elevator.[1]
Description
The area resides southwest of the Mombasa island, and it is made up of circular segments surrounded by high concrete walls. One of the segments, which also contains the entrance, is attached to the Mombasa Island, while the rest are in a cluster, forming an artificial island. The segments are connected to each other by a bridge.[2] The Coastal Highway goes around the segment nearest to the city.[3]
History
During the Battle of Mombasa, Uplift Reserve was where Regret's Carrier deployed its Gravity Lift's base,[1] making it the highest concentration of Covenant ground troops in the area at the time.[4] Later in the battle, the park was still occupied by the Covenant, who had multiple Wraiths and other vehicles stationed in there. The UNSC forces pushed through the Covenant defenses, eventually crushing all Covenant resistance in the area.[2]
