The F99 Unmanned Combat Aerial Vehicle, commonly known as the "Drone Fighter", is a carrier-based air combat vehicle used by the UNSC Air Force. It was used at least in the defense of Mombasa during the First Battle of Earth in late October 2552.
Trivia
- The drone fighter was originally going to be featured in Halo 3 under the name "F99 Wombat", but didn't appear until Halo 3: ODST.[1] It was featured in the Art of Halo 3 book.[2] It wasn't actually officially named the Wombat, but was just a joke referring to the fighter's designation.
- The vehicle also appears as a silhouette on a nearby ship in Longshore.[3]
