Campbell was an Orbital Drop Shock Trooper in the UNSC Marine Corps. He was part of the 105th ODST Division, and participated in the Battle of Ariel in 2552 under the command of MSgt Frost.[1]

After deployment to Ariel, the ODSTs split into two-man teams. Campbell teamed up with Higgins, and together they scouted the colony's motor pool. He was then contacted by Sergeant Frost, who ordered them both to recon the generator room of the complex. Campbell told Higgins to move out, but came to notice he had been killed by a Kig-Yar wielding an Energy Cutlass. Another Jackal armed with a cutlass then killed Campbell from behind before he could react.[1]
