Overview
The Gremlin is a combat support vehicle used by the UNSC Marine Corps during 2531, during the early years of the Human-Covenant War. It has been seen engaging enemies with its roof-mounted X23 NNEMP Cannon.[1] It is a Special Purpose Vehicle, with the ability to temporarily disable non-infantry units - namely, vehicles. It is Anders' unique unit and can be produced in the Command Center. The Gremlin is rather effective at disabling enemy bases and structures, although it is vulnerable against infantry, as its EMP ability has no effect against them; with the Focusing Lens upgrade, however, its laser weapon becomes powerful enough to pose a fairly significant threat to infantry units, especially small groups of them. Notably, the Gremlin's laser weapon makes it reasonably effective against Flood-related units and structures.
Appearance
Like the Cobra, the Gremlin moves on six tires, with two at the front and the other four towards the rear. The drivers sit in the front of the vehicle, and instead of having a window to see out of, it features a one-way screen similar to a Spartan's visor. The weaponry is mounted on top of the Gremlin, allowing it to target and fire more easily.

Trivia
- It is vaguely similar in appearance to the cut "Cougar" unit, and was likely inspired by it.
- The "Gremlin" moniker is a reference to the folkloric creature of the same name, which aviators sometimes jokingly claim cause mechanical problems in aircraft. This is an appropriate name, considering the Gremlin's EMP capabilities.
- This is one of the two UNSC vehicles that is named after a mythological creature rather than an actual animal, the other being the Cyclops.
- The Gremlin is used to weaken the tractor beams in the level Shield World. They are then frozen and when you discover another Tractor Beam Serina sends you another Gremlin to weaken the Tractor beam. This is the only appearence in Campaign.
- For a useful counter move against AI on Halo Wars, sometimes they attack you early with a Bunch of Gremlins.
