Vadam is a Sangheili family. They lived in the State of Vadam, a relatively young yet powerful state in Yermo, Sangheilios [1]. Their Kaidon during the Human-Covenant War was Thel 'Vadamee, who would soon be the Supreme Commander, and later the Arbiter.
All members of this group held the surname "Vadam" and if joined the Covenant earned the 'ee' suffix therefore would be named, "Vadamee." Koida 'Vadam was executed by Thel 'Vadamee beacuse he sent 3 assasins to try to kill him.This is stated in the cole protocol
