Notes
Strangely, the DMR appears to be a variation (or perhaps a precursor) to the Battle Rifle, as much of the stock and butt of the weapon (along with it's overall use) suggests as much. This may be the next step in evolution (or another path that formed) of the original Battle Rifles first seen in Halo: Contact Harvest used by Sergeant Major Avery Johnson. However, the Designated Marksman Rifle, unlike the Battle Rifle, fires single shots in a semi-automatic configuration; not like three round bursts found in the Battle Rifles.
It is currently unknown if the DMR has a larger or smaller magazine, but it is reasonable to believe the DMR may be chambered in a larger size than the Battle Rifle as the weapon fires semi-automatically. It is speculated that the DMR may be the Halo: Reach version of Halo: Combat Evolved 's pistol.
