The Machete was a human melee weapon that was going to be included in Halo: Combat Evolved. However, it was deleted before the final game was released; the final product has no melee-specific weaponry, the player can perform a 'pistol whip' or 'butt slam' attack with any weapon.
Trivia
- It is possible, although exceptionally unlikely, that the Brute Shot's blade was Bungie's modest way of compensating for the machete's deletion.
- The Energy Sword was probably going to be the Covenant counterpart of the Machete.
