Biography
While his team was searching for the Master Chief, he alerted Sergeant Johnson to the fact that there were Covenant enemies nearby, however doing so gave away his position and he and his squad immediately came under attack by a Phantom and all of Bravo, save for him, were killed. A Brute Chieftain (presumably the commander of the force that was responsible for the deaths of Reynolds' men) soon confronted Reynolds atop a log bridge and began to interrogate him on the location of "it" (probably referring to the piece of debris that the Master Chief entered Earth's atmosphere on) but Reynolds refused to divulge any information on the whereabouts of whatever "it" was. Just then the Master Chief's party intervened and saved Reynolds from certain death. Reynolds then jumped off the bridge, grabbed an assault rifle from one of his fallen comrades, and informed the Master Chief of his situation before joining the Chief in his mission to rendezvous with Johnson at a nearby UNSC outpost.
(While it's possible that he died during the events that transpired later that day, it should be noted that he does appear on Tsavo Highway as a central figure helping to evacuate the Kilimanjaro Base and also spawns on the Ark as a randomly generated friendly NPC, meaning that it's very likely that he, along with Sergeant Stacker, made it back to Earth safely aboard the Shadow of Intent.)
Trivia
- It is possible for the player to just let the Brute kill Reynolds and not intervene. The Brute will crack Reynold's spine and throw him off the bridge.
- Reynolds is voiced by Hollywood actor Nathan Fillion, best known for his role in the cancelled Fox TV series Firefly and its spin-off feature film Serenity. Incidentally, his Firefly/Serenity character's last name was also Reynolds, who also held the rank of Sergeant.
