Thermite-Carbon Cord is a type of explosive ordinance used by the UNSC. It consists of a long wire of unknown type with a charge. Once the charge is activated, a large amount of electrical energy is relased, and the subsequent burst of heat and light is capable of enormous amounts of damage, including melting metal or completely incinerating a life form.
The SPARTAN-III Beta Company used this during Operation: PROMETHEUS. Tom-B292, Lucy-B091 and Min-B174 of Team Foxtrot used it to destroy the reactors of a Covenant facility, however, Min's cord detonated prematurely, completely vaporising and killing him[1].
