Voi is a current-day market city in Kenya, Africa, and is also set to be part of the plot of Halo 3.

Location

It is nearby Mombasa, Kenya, and serves as the crossroads for railway lines between three Kenyan cities, including Mombasa and Nairobi.

Topography

Voi is described in its concept art to be a "worker town", and is filled with mechanical factories and shoreline buildings. It also houses an enigmatic system of "tethers", arcing semicircles of thick metal that belt into the air. These tethers are also associated with Tsavo Highway, and can be seen or are part of the outskirts where Tsavo Highway takes place.

Halo 3

Three successive Halo 3 campaign levels - Tsavo Highway, The Storm and Cleansing, take place in or around Voi[1].

Tsavo Highway , the third campaign level, takes place along the road to Voi, as does most of the following level The Storm in which the Master Cheif must defeat a Scarab.

The Storm deals mainly with the character assaulting Covenant forces entrenched in Voi.

Cleansing, according to the hacking of the Halo 3 Beta code, is associated with the Flood, and it is believed that after dispatching the Covenant forces of Voi, the character must clean Voi of the Flood.
