Pulse generators are the main energy source for The Halo installations' main weapon. Pulse generators appear as pillars of blue light held in by thinner pillars. The pulse generators create unimaginable amounts of energy; Cortana said that she couldn't even begin to calculate the blast range. The generators are important devices for firing Halo, so during the events of Two Betrayals, Cortana and SPARTAN-117 destroy them by modifying the Chief's shields to act as an EMP.
