It seem to me that they are wearing common fatigue green standard issue (at least in our time) military clothes.

I don't think so
I believe that the spartan where the origanal beings not the clones. So he could remember the past, Because the replaced one went back to the familys and later died due to complications caused by the flash cloning. It says this in the The Fall of Reach.
