Energy projector

The Energy Projector is a Covenant starship-mounted weapon. The Covenant may have repurposed Forerunner technology, as normal, as smaller-sized Energy Projectors are also found on Onyx Sentinels.

Damage

It is believed to be the most devastating weapon in the Covenant arsenal, with an effective range of 100,000 kilometers - beyond the range of any UNSC weapon, including the Super Orbital Magnetic Accelerator Cannon. It fires a lance-thin, fluctuating beam of energy that spears through enemy warships at long range. However, before it fires, it typically emits a spike of radiation, allowing informed enemies to know when the projector is firing.

It can take down the shields of a Covenant frigate or a Covenant Heavy Destroyer with a single hit. However, it can effectively neutralize a UNSC frigate or UNSC destroyer's threat to friendly forces by surgically impacting critical systems like their MAC system, destroying them and making them effectively useless in combat.

Appearances

• According to Fred-104, only the "big ships have them". Covenant warships armed with this devastating weapon are the Reverence-class Cruiser, Covenant Battleship, Covenant Supercruiser, Assault Carrier, and the Covenant Supercarrier - all two kilometers or longer.
• As aforementioned, Onyx Sentinels are armed with cut-down Energy Projectors that fire golden light, instead of blue-phased energy. However, they are also destructive, able to destroy rock plateaus and destroy any infantry or ground vehicle in a single hit.
• An Assault Carrier obliterated the temple that the Prophet of Regret was sermonizing in on Installation 04 when SPARTAN-117 murdered the High Prophet.
