Falcon Wing aerial descent units are simple parachute packs used by the UNSC for orbital insertions of troops. Falcon Wings are the safest drop units and certainly less advanced than Human Entry Vehicles and other forms of aerial landing. They consist of packs attached to the back, and, when a lever is pulled, produce wide black parachutes with maneuvering holds.
They are seldom used at night, despite their potential for stealthy night time insertions. The first requirements for the Spartan-IIIs upon arriving at Camp Currahee was to perform a night jump with Falcon Wings.
