The phrase Boxer is known as a button layout in Halo 2 and Halo 3.

Advantages

The position of the button allows the player to melee during combat while still permitting the turning action. This proves effective in mid-jump battles where it is easy to be assassinated if the back is exposed due to lack of maneuverability.

Disadvantages

The main drawback this setting poses and exemplifies is that it delays the player from meleeing and beating down an opposing player immediately after dual-wielding weapons are dropped. Another issue is that since the grenade button is set to "B", it does not allow the player to aim the grenade throw very accurately.

Trivia

  • Many players use this button layout on close-quarters battles, where meleeing is a good way to get kills.
  • This could be s reference to the sport boxing.
