Staff Sergeant is a rank in the UNSC Marine Corps, just above Sergeant and below Gunnery Sergeant. It is a Non-commissioned officer. They also command squads of 9 - 11 men, although occasionnaly they are selected to become "Platoon Sergeants" which aid Second Lieutenants.
