Sniper Jackals are very different from all the other types of jackals. Sniper Jackals do not carry energy sheilds but instead they use both hands to man the beam rifle. The beam rifle is a very powerful sniper weapon for the covenant it may take your shelds down in easy or normal but in heroic or ledendary the beam rifle may only take one shot to end the life of the player. Sniper Jackals are not like the regular Jackals they do not keep shooting if you are close they drop there beam rifle and take out a plasma pistol and reatreat to a nearby group of covenant if you are in a very close distance.

Sniper Jackals are extremely clever. They always wield [[Beam Rifle]]s and [[Plasma Pistol]]s and hide themselves out of sight, preferring to station themselves in open spaces to attack from long range. Their aim is very deadly, almost always connecting with a target. A single shot from a Jackal Sniper can kill a [[Spartan II]] with full energy shields on the [[Legendary]] difficulty, no matter where it hits. A Jackal sniper has superb eyesight, seeing enemies far off and quickly taking them out with their weapon. If an enemy gets close enough to the Sniper Jackal, it will drop its rifle and pull out a [[Plasma Pistol]]. They usually panic too much to even get off a shot with the pistol. Without their shields, Sniper Jackals are much easier to kill.

Sniper Jackals are newer rank additions for the Jackals of the Covenant. Unlike standard infantry Jackals, Sniper Jackals do not carry Jackal Personal Arm Shields. They wield long range weaponry, serving as the Covenant's answer to UNSC Marine sharpshooters.

Killing Sniper Jackals

The best way to kill a Sniper Jackal is to use either a Beam Rifle/Sniper Rifle, or a M6C Magnum for an instant kill. The Covenant Carbine also delivers an instant headshot kill.

Trivia

In the level Outskirts, there is a Sniper Jackal in a tower that when killed, an "invisible Jackal Personal Arm Shield" collaspes, and you can see the tell-tale blue electricity and noise.
