Some of the Covenant's technology require larger power sources than can be self-contained. The Covenant's Holo-Pedestals can often be found linked to a nearby power battery to generate the power required for use. These power cells are highly volitile when exposed to weapons fire. To date we do not fully understand how energy batteries are replaced after usage or failure.
