May I Enquire About somthing

I respect you allot for what you are do for the Halo community and the Halopedia but you removed one of my edits that linked to a site about the Easter Eggs in the halo series in the article I wrote. I wasn’t meant to advertise but just give someone a place to go to get some info on the topic. I’m sorry if this violates your terms but I think it would be good to have a link there. I didnt intent to spam your article, but to improve it. Will you let a link reside there?

I would rather not. Halopedia is an archive of information pertaining to Halo, and it seems bad to send visitors to another site rather than publish the information here. --Dragonclaws 07:32, 27 October 2006 (UTC)
Permision to re-link the site in the Halo 2 page, in the article I wrote?

Unggoy

Escuse me Dragonclaws.

I come from much experience at Wikipedia and especially the Wookiepedia (starwars.wikia.com), and i'm very used to a certain format. Granted, this is just one guy grumbling, but i think i have a valid point. If you look at my recent additions to the file of Avery Jones Johnson, this is a great change from the format of the rest of the artices. However, allow me to explain. I see this as an encyclopedia, written after all of these events have ocured in the past tense. I also beleive the articles would benefit from having the images within them rather than following, making the article more user friendly and easier on the eye.

take a look at the Wookiepeidia's format. Personally, i like the way its organized and was thinking of starting one with a similar format, but dealing with Halo. Seeing that this already exists, i am coming looking for a better way to organize the articles here. Please take a look at the article and tell me what you think of it, seeing as you are an admin here. please give me feedback on how you think the others would accept this new style: no real-world references within bios, technical names of weapons instead of nicknames (M12 LRV as opposed to warthog/SR AM Sniper Rifle rather than sniper rifle), and a few more minor deelies here and there.

another issue which brings me here is the naming of the covenant. Personally, i do not like how the main title is "Grunt" or "Jackal" rather than "Unggoy" or "Kig-Yar". In my beleifs, shouldn't the proper name be the title, and then other cultural nomenclature come second? Redirects are not that hard to do, so it's not as if the other articles would be messed up with these changes. Just a thought.

thanks for listening.

I think it was a excellent overhaul of the article. Wookiepedia does indeed seem to be a well-functioning wiki, and its format does look appealing. I would agree that Halopedia could do with some reformating, any help would be appriciated.
Until a few months ago, we were unable to upload images to the wiki. They had to be linked in from off-site, and, if you wanted them on the side of the page, you had to use html. It was out of convenience that we just stuck them all under a header at the bottom. Now that the uploading works, I have been trying to move images to the sides of the articles, however, it is hard when there are more images than there is room.
As for the race names, while "Unggoy" is the proper name of the race, this has only been mentioned in Conversations from the Universe. The average gamer will not understand if he starts reading about how to kill SpecOps Sangheili, and will have to visit each page to realize which species is being refered to. Similarly, the English Wikipedia uses Japanese people as the article title, only noting that they refer to themselves as "Nihon-jin". --Dragonclaws 16:46, 4 June 2006 (EDT)

Question

How do you change the color of a template??? -gb2u

If you look at the template here, there are these "#"s followed by six alphanumeric characters, which denote color. The characters are hexadecimal, going from 0 - 15, but using letters A - F after 9. The first two characters determine how much red goes into it, with 00 being none and FF being maximum. The other character sets are green and blue, respectively. Specific color codes can be found on lists on the web, or in color slection menus of graphic programs. --Dragonclaws 09:28, 30 June 2006 (EDT)

Halo Mods

Can there be a modding section in the Halo Glitches and Tricks page? - patd

You mean telling people how to mod, right? If you mean for Xbox, I'm afraid of some people messing up their systems do to inaccurate instructions. As I don't mod myself, I can't correct any misinformation which may be added. Perhaps it would just be best to link to another site in the Modding article. However, if you mean PC, you can just reinstall, right? If so, I think PC would be all right. --Dragonclaws 10:12, 30 June 2006 (EDT)

...

Hello. I used to be Ed. Now, my username has been taken, along with practically any other possible username. Since my tag is attatched to so much stuff already, I propose that you delete the already created username "Ed" so I can take my old user name again. I don't think whoever created it intended to use it. -69.223.86.235 00:40, 25 July 2006 (UTC)

I think anyone registered on any Wikia site has their account automatically functional on every site. So, I don't think that's possible. I suggest you be creative and maybe spell something backwards to get a new username, and then redirect Ed to it. --Dragonclaws 01:30, 25 July 2006 (UTC)
We're just COPYING articles from Halopedia, right? Because it seems that most of the high quality main pages on the original site have been replaced with low quality messed up crap pages here. such as the Spartan pages. and every other important page. -ED 03:35, 25 July 2006 (UTC)
This used to be a site independant of Halopedia. We couldn't support the site at halopedia.org, so we're merging to this one. Its users seem to have already copied some of our stuff here and altered it, previous to our move. --Dragonclaws 03:41, 25 July 2006 (UTC)
If they had compied our pages, then their pages wouldnt be so crappy. After all- we wrote them.So Halopedia is being deleted after we're done transferring? What exactly was this page before we took it? --ED 03:49, 25 July 2006 (UTC)
It was a competitor Halo wiki formerly called "Halo Wiki." Halopedia.org cannot be kept up due to bandwidth costs, so Porplemontage decided to move everything here. Because Halopedia is popular, they changed the name and look to match the Halopedia's. Take a look at the main page discussion. --Dragonclaws 04:29, 25 July 2006 (UTC)

Templates

Hey, what's up, Dragonclaws?

Thanks about the templates. I'm wondering about three things:

1. How to become an administrator? 2. If there's an AfD process here at Halopedia? 3. Can I help to write a "How To Edit" kind of page, similar to the one found on Wikipedia?

Cheers,

RelentlessRogue 05:57, 7 August 2006 (UTC)

  1. Users are recruited by the current admins when they believe they can't handle it themselves.
  2. Not at the moment. It's more like: a user adds an article to Category:Candidates for Deletion, and I check it out and decide whether or not to delete it. We don't have a very solid community here, so if I try to argue a point instead of simply acting, I'm not likely to recieve a response for quite a while. If you're planning to participate, we could create one, though.
  3. Sure. We already have Help:Editing, though. So you might want to just edit that rather than write an entirely new article. --Dragonclaws 09:37, 7 August 2006 (UTC)
Gotcha. Ok, so for the admin stuff, I guess there's not an RfA. And, I would be willing to try to make the programming for an AfD process. The basic stuff with templates and userboxes are fine, but the harder stuff might be a bit over my head! I'll try to edit the Help:Editing as see if I can nake it better.
On my userpage, I've made more templates, including an exceptional article template. Would a "EA" template be ok? Like the community nominates an article that's exceptional and mentions it on the front page?
Also, I'll be adding my templates onto the help page, if that's ok with you.
And expanding on the administrator stuff, how long or how many edits must I accumulate before I can become one? This is purely for me to help Halopedia, not for personal status.
Cheers,
RelentlessRogue 18:04, 7 August 2006 (UTC)
P.S.-next time please respond to my messages at User talk:RelentlessRogue. Thanks.
Roger that. The only reason I want to become an admin is that if I make changes on the help pages or create templates, I want to be able to defend my decision.
Cheers!
Thanks,
RelentlessRogue 04:43, 8 August 2006 (UTC)

AfD:I Love Bees

Hello Dragonclaws,

I'm afraid that I have unfortunate news to report. I have nominated I Love Bees and all related articles for deletion. They are all fan fiction. I know you've edited the ILB page, but please do not take offense.

On Wikipedia, fan fiction isn't allowed. So why here?

Oh, and how did you protect your user page...? =)

Cheers,

RelentlessRogue 07:37, 10 August 2006 (UTC)

RelentlessRogue

This user is blatently mislabeling articles as false, suggested for deletion, inaccurate, etc., but without ANY demand for such labels. For example, he has labeled EVERY ILB article for deletion, stated that the infromation for the CCS-Cruiser as inaccurate, but with no evidence for such information. I don't know what you can do about it, but I find his arrogance annoying and ignorance since he's just doing what he wants based on his opinion when wikipedia works with facts.

Yes we must stop him before its to late! and the stuff on the I Love Bees website was partly made by Bungie wasn’t it ? or at least over seen by them

Dragonclaws could you please tell me how to put pictures into articles on Halopedia -Climax Viod 22:09, 10 August 2006 (UTC)

There's a short guide in the FAQ. Is this sufficient? --Dragonclaws 00:58, 11 August 2006 (UTC)

Fine thanks check out the Fuel Rod Gun. -Climax Viod 10:00, 11 August 2006 (UTC)

Fan Fiction

Dragonclaws I read about half of your Halo story on http://www.halomovieonline.com/site/index.php?topic=1147.0 its good stuff do you think the Sangheili will join the humans in future Halo games or books that would fit in well because there would be a even number on both sides.

Humans- Jackals
Elites- Brutes
Hunters- Drinol
Grunts- Drones -Climax Viod 12:29, 11 August 2006 (UTC)

Thanks. Yes, I do. However, I believe the Chief at Earth will still fight all the normal enemies until the later levels. It should take time for the rebellion to spread to the forces at Earth, and I imagine Drinol would be used sparingly, perhaps only to guard the Ark or similar place of high status. The Elite in Conversations said, "soon we may be able to use the Sharquoi," making me think they're perhaps few in number. --Dragonclaws 18:15, 11 August 2006 (UTC)
Is it possible Bungie will introduce a new race (called Sharquoi, but not a Drinol seen in the deleted Halo 2 stuff) that is similar to the Hunters? --CrzyAznSprtn 18:40, 11 August 2006 (UTC)
I believe Sharquoi and Drinol are likely the same thing, however, Bungie may have done some changes to the design since the creature we saw on the DVD. A mural in the extended scene shows a picture of an alien that looks pretty similar. --Dragonclaws 19:59, 11 August 2006 (UTC)

In the [Halo 3: Behind the Scenes] movie it shows a model of something that could be a new race it looks similar to the concept art of the sniper race in the bonus DVD with Halo 2 special edition. -Climax Viod 19:53, 11 August 2006 (UTC)

This? I believe that to be a Brute. It is early in development, so it doesn't have the characteristic fur. --Dragonclaws 19:59, 11 August 2006 (UTC)

No, the other skiny, tall, bald thing on the table. Oh and is it ok to copy things across from other web sites e.g. the helljumper pictures from http://nikon.bungie.org/misc/sloftus_iactour/ to add to the ODST section on Halopedia ? -Climax Viod 21:24, 11 August 2006 (UTC)

If Bungie developed it enough for it to make the DVD, it would make sense that they might have such stuff around. I'll take a look at it, though. I think the actual screenshots of Halo are okay because I can't see how anyone besides Bungie could own it, however, I'm not sure about the scale comparisons. --Dragonclaws 19:17, 12 August 2006 (UTC)

How do you create a link to another page by useing a differant name? [Nukes, would take you to the article on Shiva Nuclear-tipped missile]

Replace all the text of a page with "#REDIRECT [[Arbiter]]" to make that page a redirect to Arbiter. --Dragonclaws 19:17, 12 August 2006 (UTC)

User account

Hey dragonclaws this is haloman333, did my user get deleted while I was gone?

We've moved to a new site (halo.wikia.com). You'll have to make a new account. --Dragonclaws 03:42, 12 August 2006 (UTC)

Press for Halopedia

Dragonclaws - let me know when you or your fellow admins would like to get some press for your cool project. We can have our PR team reach out to magazines or blogs of your choice! Do you know who owns Halopedia.com? It would be great if we could host all the content under the old URL [Gil] ([talk]) 03:52, 13 August 2006 (UTC)

Merge??

Hey dragonclaws. I was wondering, how does one suggest that two articles be merged? Do you just write a comment about it on the disscussion page? I already did that, but I just wanted to make sure that that's how you do it. Kura 13:47, 3 September 2006 (UTC)

You can disregard that last question. After some exploring and searching, I found out how to do it. Kura 19:22, 3 September 2006 (UTC)

Idea !!!!!!!!!!!

Hey Dragonclaws you should put a thing on the main page where people can ask Halo related questions and the Admins and other Halopedia users answers them, or not it was just a thought. -Climax Viod 19:54, 14 September 2006 (UTC)

Yeah, that does sound like an interesting idea. I'll see what I can do. --Dragonclaws 21:26, 16 September 2006 (UTC)

Digi HGN pic.

Give it a shot if you want. I haven't tried it yet on my scanner. I'll give a shot this weekend, when I have time to do stuff on here. School and flu's got me busy, so I might.

Pointers

Hey Dragonclaws: Im new to Halopedia, and reading your page it looks like you've been here a while. could you give me some pointers to all the features to the Halopedia? --EliteDeath

I'm bad with vague explainations regarding a large quantity of material, but I'll try to answer any questions you have. --Dragonclaws 21:01, 16 September 2006 (UTC)
All right. How do you get pictures on your page that are .htm or .bmp? I tried changing the file extension but it still wont let me. And how do you make, like, two or three different links to the same page? --EliteDeath
I believe you can only upload .jpg .gif .png and .ogg (sounds). Changing the extention manually won't change the file format, you have to load the image in a graphics program (MS Paint will do) and save it under a certain format. As for the links, are you refering to redirects? Use this code "#REDIRECT [[Master Chief]]" to make that page redirect to Master Chief. --Dragonclaws 20:15, 21 September 2006 (UTC)
Ok thanks. And can you change your username? --EliteDeath
Not as far as I know. --Dragonclaws 00:15, 27 September 2006 (UTC)

NAVY

I think There should be page about the NAVY people like the Marines have.--Ryanngreenday 19:29, 18 September 2006 (UTC)

Unless you want a main page link, you can just make a page yourself without asking me. --Dragonclaws 00:17, 27 September 2006 (UTC)

I would but i...don't know how...--Ryanngreenday 10:24, 27 September 2006 (UTC)

There's a page on the Marines, all of the Halo characters are Navy related they chose it because of the Space ships, people think their use Navy terms in the future but it will most likely be Air Force related. That’s why they use ranks like Master Chief Petty Officer. -Climax Viod 18:56, 19 September 2006 (UTC)

Ill help try and figure it out, I have Wednesday and Thursday off now, with nothing too do, I need a new job to pass the time. --Climax Viod 12:12, 27 September 2006 (UTC)

Hi, could you tell me how to upload images from a Paint document please. If its not posible never mind, --Climax Viod 15:21, 29 September 2006 (UTC)
